What is SGIS?

SGIS is an agricultural data management system that was designed for making crop and land management decisions, in an agricultural production environment.

SGIS is built on ESRI Arc8 GIS components. These components use shape files, which have become an industry standard.

The SGIS system is targeted at agricultural retailers or crop consultants - anyone who provides agronomic services to growers.

SGIS operates on either Windows 2000 or Windows XP Professional operating systems.  SGIS uses relational database technology, by using Internet Explorer and Microsoft Access.  The use of these tools enables the user easy access to the relational tables and use of the information in standard data base tools.  Also, by using these tools, the use of the data base is scalable from the desktop level (MSAccess) to an enterprise level (MS SQL and Oracle).

SGIS forms part of a comprehensive set of integrated technologies that enable the agronomic service provider to quickly and efficiently record, manage, analyze and process geo-referenced agricultural data.
