DULUTH — AGCO’s commitment to full access for every farmer to productivity and profit-boosting technology has been recognized with the presentation of an AE50 award for the company's ISOBUS FileServer software. The software, which complies with ISO-11783, an industry wide standard, makes it possible for an AGCO customer to connect an ISOBUS ready tractor with any ISOBUS compliant implement or attachment, regardless of brand. The software also makes it possible for implements and attachments, equipped with sensors and electronic control systems and marketed by any of the AGCO Corporation brands, to communicate with non-AGCO brand tractors that meet the same industry wide standards. "This software is one more step in our corporate-wide commitment to making technological advances brand neutral," says Wayne Edwards, project manager, AGCO Advanced Technology Solutions.
At its most basic, the AE50 award winning software provides functionality similar to a PC hard drive. Electronic Control Units (ECUs) can store files using the file server for later use. The file server usually stores files that are vehicle or user-specific such as calibrations and operator preferences.
"Global Positioning Systems have already changed farming with guided steering systems such as our Auto-GuideTM," says Edwards. "Agricultural equipment has the capacity today to provide even more benefits to farmers if tractors and implements can communicate. That is what ISO-11783, the industry standard, is all about, and that is why our ISOBUS FileServer software meets that standard. With this software we have ensured that our customers can maximize the profit potential of new technologies as they are introduced."
